Indy Designer Saturday: Pradeepa of The Lazy Hobbyhopper and  The Whimsical  Little Fox

Oh my goodness!  I hardly know where to begin with today's incredible indy designer!    But with 1,119 page likes to her name on Facebook, clearly others feel the same way about Pradeepa's designs !     I was looking for a designer who agrees with me that children deserve  fun, colorful, designs that make them happy and stimulate their brains.   In a world of  "the terribly  muted needleworker"   (TTMN  from now on)  it took a LONG time to find some colorful designs  to write about.   Thankfully there's  The Lazy Hobbyhopper and  The Whimsical Little Fox  to the rescue!

Maybe it's my age.   Maybe it's my predisposition to  fight against the "crowd" mentality.  Maybe it's  the teacher in me  but the TTMN just doesn't settle well with me.    I like babies and young children to have COLOR .
Here's a little primer about color .     I think teachers or  daycare providers who dress in bright colors have the right idea.   Every time I see the TTMN  I remember my childhood.   Granted it was the 60's   so color was more or less the thing  but  parents were concerned with making a playful environment for their kids.   When I found Pradeepa's designs on Ravelry I cheered right out loud.  (which is embarrassing when you  are in  a room alone).   A feast for the eyes and happiness to my soul!    Lets first take a look at the designs for clothing, home decor and accessories  at The Lazy  Hobbyhopper and then we'll look at  The Whimsical  Little Fox

Many of the Indy designers have great websites that  cover a myriad of  crafts and hobbies.  This also applies to  The Lazy Hobbyhopper   .  However for the sake of time we'll stick with the   fiber art designs.   It was difficult to choose a few favorites to share but  I think  these will represent Pradeepa's designs.  Many come in multiple sizes.
  • This beautiful little Crochet Hat with Roses  is  the perfect little feminine  touch to bring baby home.
  • For a bit of fun  The Lazy Hobbyhopper designs  offers the Monster Hat .  So cute!
  • The  Lazy Summer Dress is picture perfect!  For an added touch the  Blue and Pink Baby Sandals  make a  smart  outfit.   I like the Lazy Summer  Dress because it can be made in a variety of bright happy colors without ruining the effect of the dress.
  • If you have a Pokemon  fan at your house these hats are a must, I'm sure.

Adults can expect to find patterns ranging from  fun to  classy evening wear.
  • As mentioned above  The Lazy Hobbyhopper has the monster and the Pokemon hats which are also sized for adults.   Great for a party or to play dressup.
  • I like the "knit look"  design of the  Cable Stitch Hat .
  • The  elegance of the Emily  Tunic Top is really perfect for this time of year.  Something to wear to an event  in Spring because it does have a little  3/4 length sleeve.  I love it.
  • With a  huge variety of  accessories it was very difficult to choose just one shawl or scarf.   I did find a design  by  Pradeepa that would be useful as both a shawl or scarf in the Honeydew Button-up Scarf.   Carefully choosing both the yarn and the buttons could make this piece either very very elegant or a scarf to wear every day.  It's that flexible.   Perfect.
  • If you are in need of a gift to give to a friend or loved one, this  lacy scarf Variegated Yarn Scarf is a chic piece!

There are  several accessories for the home that really would add a touch of   pleasant color to any  room.
  • I have to confess this is my favorite nautical blanket I've seen.  Once again a "knit look"  has been created in the crocheted stitches of the Waterworld Baby Blanket.   The appliques make it completely adorable.
  • Of  course the Granny Stitch Ripple is a  great way to make a colorful piece and use up some leftover yarn
  • Creating a one-of-a-kind room is often a challenge for moms.  We don't always have a pile of cash laying around for decorating purposes but we do have skill.  This collection of appliques can be attached  to any  blanket, wall hanging, added to a picture frame or made into a sort of bunting.

Next  we look at  The Whimsical Little Fox.   Play-full  offerings from Pradeepa.   The Whimsical Little  Fox is aptly named.     My  daughter is the true  toy expert but the Amigurumi  patterns  created by  Pradeepa  are pretty irresistible if you have a child who loves make believe.     My daughter informs me that most of these patterns are not for beginners,   however,   Pradeepa includes photos to help you along.    My favorites are probably beyond MY skill level but  Laterose Doll Clothes and Doll Repair on Facebook  is able to negotiate these patterns with very little problem.
  • The  precious little "Amelia Doll" has  a pretty face and clothes.   This might be an excellent doll to carry along for those times when quiet toys are called for.
  • Little boys and funny little monsters.  The do go together.  This Blue  Monster is sure to bring a smile... warts and all!  :)
  • Security blankets?  Most  parents  of young kids will say "Yes Please!"  Check out this  Dog Lovey.  Reminds me of my dog Ginger Pye.

Thanks for reading along today!  My thanks to Pradeepa  for these amazing designs and please check her out on Facebook   .    I'm glad I found  The  Whimsical Little Fox and The Lazy  Hobbyhopper.    Writing about these creations has been a great way to pass  a rainy afternoon.    If you  do check out  Pradeepa's  work be sure to thank her for all her hard work!
