I found a great resource for matching volunteers ... like me who knit and crochet with hospice care centers that need YOUR help! Its called Volunteer Match http://www.volunteermatch.org/
There are dozens of "virtual" volunteer matches for those of us who love to share our talent and don't mind mailing our handiwork away so others can have a little comfort I found 3 Hospice Centers on the East Coast that I felt I could help at some time so I bookmarked them. I signed in using my Facebook account and then found 2 opportunities that I was really excited about! Fidelis Hospice and Palliative Care located in and around Framingham Mass. and Gentiva Hospice in Wyoming, Michigan. Hospice care is so vitally important to families. Through the virtual opportunities listed we all have a way to reach out to people who are struggling and desperately need comfort. People who are in the advanced stages of illness and their families. By giving blankets or prayer shawls we share from our heart with our hands. If you are interested in using your talents for hospice I urge you to check out Volunteer Match. You might find someone in your very own community who needs you!
